Building for growth

When I was growing up, I used to love putting together Airfix models - plastic kits involving glue and paint, mainly of aircraft. Here I am many years later assembling our Cuprous Local Controller devices, and similarly enjoying their assembly process (although I’m much better at glueing things now!).

However, running a business is not about emulating Airfix model builds; not when you have 50 of them to do! And our assembly process requires flashing our own flavour of Linux known as Cuprux, and then installing what amounts to four major software services. During their installation, the software creates its own identity and registers itself with our factory-based registry. This registry is then synchronised with a cloud-based registry out-of-band, again for security purposes. Each device we build can therefore be trusted by our cloud-based infrastructure used to monitor and support them.

Fun fact: every device has its own unique network address and we would have to produce more than the number of grains of sand on the planet before running out of them!

We now have the total time it takes to assemble, glue, provision and test each device down to 20 minutes for one person, and there is an opportunity to parallelise some of these activities across multiple people. We also have more scope to optimise the software provisioning process, but it is more than good-enough for now.

Our commitment to streamlined production means that every Cuprous Local Controller is secure and ready for high-demand deployments as soon as it reaches your site. So, if you are in the business of installing EV chargers and there is more than one charger to install, you need our Australian-made product. We have stock and are ready to ship them to you!
